Children taken to hospital after not wearing seatbelts in Colorado Springs crash, woman arrested

A woman is charged with child abuse after multiple children were injured due to not wearing seatbelts.

Constanzia Santistevan, 34, failed to yield to traffic while making a left turn off of Constitution Ave. onto N. Chelton Rd. Sunday night.

Children who were not properly seat belted were in the car at the time of the crash. They were transported to local hospitals, one child suffered broken ribs and another had a broken collar bone. None of the injuries are considered life-threatening.

Santistevan was arrested for a minor traffic infraction due to the vehicle turning left, she was also charged with child abuse as there were multiple children in the car who were not properly seat belted.

Alcohol and speed were not factors in the crash.
