Weather Alert Day: snow showers – 1/28/19

TODAY: Snow still looks to begin between 5-6AM around the Palmer Divide and will be arriving in heavier bands in areas. This will bring down the visibility when you factor in the gusty winds if you are making the commute over Monument Hill. Snow will spread to the south through the mid morning hours today and could make bridges and overpasses slick in spots. Afternoon and early evening snow showers look possible, but coverage isn’t looking as high as what we find during the morning drive. Accumulations of snow look to stay light across Colorado Springs and the I-25 corridor (trace to an inch) with more moderate amounts expected for the higher terrain and peaks (2″-4″).

TONIGHT: Decreasing clouds and cold temperatures in the teens and single digits.

EXTENDED: Sunshine returns to Southern Colorado for the rest of the week along with a slow warming trend. Highs will get back into the 50s and 60s by Friday and Saturday, so any kind of snow accumulation will have melted away.
