Former Lakewood police officer faces 3rd arrest in sex-related crime while on duty

A former Lakewood police officer convicted of unlawful sexual conduct is facing more allegations that he sexually assaulted women while on duty.

Randall Shaun Butler turned himself in on Jan. 24 for a new unlawful sexual contact charge related to an event from 2014.

It’s on top of charges he’s already facing for sex assault and attempted sex assault charges for two other incidents.

According to a press release from Lakewood police, Randall Shaun Butler is accused of engaging in unlawful sexual conduct with a woman while giving her a ride home while on-duty the evening of July 29, 2014.

“Right now, all of us at the Lakewood Police Department are thinking of the victim in this case.” says Lakewood Police Chief Daniel McCasky. “These new charges come as a result of this brave woman stepping forward to see that justice is served. We admire her bravery and implore anyone else who may have been victimized to step forward and report these crimes. As I’ve said in the past, our top priority is the pursuit of justice for these victims.”
