Colorado Springs police warn of sexually violent predator

A man convicted of multiple sex crimes, including one against a person under the age of 13, is in Colorado Springs, according to a notification issued by the Colorado Springs Police Department.

Police say James Patrick Dauer, 61, was released from the Department of Corrections and is registered as homeless in the area of 23 W. Las Vegas Street near the Springs Rescue Mission.

Dauer is described as six feet tall, 245 pounds with gray hair and green eyes.

His sexual assault charges come from Franklin County, Pennsylvania, and two locations in Texas.

Dauer is one of 16 “sexually violent predators” currently registered in the community.
