Crews put brine on I-25 and the highways Monday during the day to prepare roads and keep them as wet as possible.

Monday evening, snow plow drivers filled up their rigs with a salt-sand mixture to put on roads later to help drivers with traction.

CDOT Highway Maintenance Supervisor, Brad Bauer said his crews have all bases covered for the storm.

“Really our goal is to be out here, to be a presence, to try to keep a hole punched through the snow so we can keep the public moving,” Bauer said.

Blizzard conditions are expected overnight Monday and several inches of snow in places are expected to leave road conditions a problem for drivers Tuesday morning in parts of the Pikes Peak Region and North of Monument.
