Pueblo Zoo’s penguins hatch second chick

Percy and Berry, the Pueblo Zoo’s resident African penguins, have successfully hatched their second chick since October.

The Pueblo Zoo announced that the new chick was born on Dec. 29 and has grown to 10.5 oz as of last week. Percy and Berry’s other chick, Quinn, has joined the colony in the zoo’s main exhibit.

The zoo says the second chick will stay with Percy and Berry for about a month and then will go to the rearing area to work closely with keepers for close to six weeks.

The Pueblo Zoo has successfully reared more than 60 African penguin chicks.
