Weather Alert: Snow and bitter cold to wrap up 2018 – 12/31/18

TODAY: We start the day with quiet weather and temperatures in the 20s, by the mid morning, snow will be falling and we will be feeling cooler temperatures in the teens. Snow coverage only picks up through the afternoon and we will feel temps tumbling into the teens. Single digits to sub zero wind chills will be a problem today, along with deteriorating road conditions.

TONIGHT: Snow continues to fall, especially along, west and south of I-25. Cloud cover should be in abundance this evening, so it doesn’t look like we will be seeing the fireworks on Pikes Peak. Temperatures tonight will be around 0 to -15. The farther west you head, the cooler temperatures will be tonight. Wind chills will be around -25 in our mountain cities.

EXTENDED: Snow tapers off tomorrow between 12PM and 3PM and we are left with clearing skies and chilly temps in the teens. Accumulation will range between 1-3″ in Colorado Springs, up to 8″ in places through Teller County, with near 12″ over areas near the southern mountains. Weather improves for the rest of the week, in fact, highs will be in the 50s by Thursday and Friday.
