Shield 616 is headed to Houston with donations for first responders

In Colorado Springs, people are doing their part to help first responders in Houston who have been taking care of people after Tropical Storm Harvey ripped through the city.

Dozens of people came out Thursday to donate supplies at Cole’s Gourmet Popcorn Shop to the brave men and women.

Shield 616 is gathering those supplies to take to first responders assisting in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey.

“We’re going to be giving them the supplies they need but we are also going to be cooking for them. It’s a holiday weekend and we heard they only have two days of food planned for the officers,” said Shield 616 volunteer Jake Skifstad.

“So we are going to be cooking for them and supporting them and really be a little bit of light for these guys that are really struggling down there.”

If you want to donate to Shield 616 for them to buy more supplies you can head to shield616.org.
