Colorado Springs fire crews work to put out trailer fire at Waste Management

The Colorado Springs Fire Department is working to put out a trailer fire at the Waste Management Colorado Springs Recycling Center.

Captain Brian Vaughan with CSFD tells us the trailer, located near East 4th and North Hancock, started to go up in flames around 9:30 a.m. Friday.

Capt. Vaughan says the fire was in a normal household garage stored in a semi-trailer at the recycling site. Crews used an aerial device or ladder truck to pour approximately 3,000 gallons of water into the interior of the trailer to extinguish it.

The cause of the fire has not been determined but it’s been reported that the trailer was threatening a nearby power pole. There were no reports of the fire interrupting any service around the area.

No injuries were reported.
