Breckenridge police officer arrested for suspicion of drunken driving

A police officer in Breckenridge was arrested for investigation of a misdemeanor count of drunken driving.

According to The Denver Post, Officer Garrett Steven Frye, 24, was pulled over for not using headlights on Friday around 11:50 p.m. while off-duty. He was placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of an internal investigation.

According to a news release from the Summit County Sheriff’s Office, when the officer who pulled Frye over recognized him as an off-duty police officer, they called sheriff’s deputies to conduct an investigation.

“Police officers have a moral and legal obligation to abide by the laws that they enforce. The arrest demonstrates how seriously law enforcement take that obligation,” Sheriff Jaime FitzSimons wrote in a news release.

Frye bond was set at $1,000. It has been reported that was paid Saturday.
