Popeyes tries to make holiday travel less stressful with ‘Emotional Support Tenders’ for travelers

Doing any traveling this busy holiday season that could add in some extra stress? Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen has got you covered with the launch of their “Emotional Support Chicken.”

The fast-food chain is offering flyers with a sense of comfort and reassurance while in the air, according to USA Today.

For a limited time, Christmas/holiday travelers passing through Terminal C of the Philadelphia International Airport and swipe a fried chicken meal specially designed for them. In its own personal chicken-themed carrier box, the meal is easy to take with you on the go or to your next flight.

“We know holiday travel can be frustrating, and there’s no better way to ease stress than with a box of delicious Popeyes fried chicken and a good laugh,” said Hope Diaz, the company’s chief marketing officer, in a statement.

Popeyes new Emotional Support Chicken Tenders come as emotional-support animals continue making headlines across the nation as passengers have pushed from their ability to bring increasingly bizarre animals onto their flights.

Business Insider says the number of emotional-support animals traveling aboard commercial flights right now has jumped to 74% from 481,000 in 2016 to 751,000 in 2017. That’s according to a trade group called Airlines for America.

“Popeyes decided to offer its own version of ’emotional support animals pushing the envelope’ by offering travelers ‘Emotional Support Chicken’ — a gesture designed to bring holiday travelers some needed humor to what is one of the most stressful places to be during the holidays — the airport,” the chain said in a press release.

The Emotional Support Chicken tenders meal can be purchased for $8.49.
