Arizona couple fulfills Mexican girl’s Christmas list after finding it tied to a balloon

An Arizona man made an 8-year-old from Mexico’s Christmas wishes come true after finding her gift list for Santa attached to a balloon that had flown over the border.

According to Insider, 60-year-old, Randy Heiss, found the handwritten list that included paint, clothes, and toys in Patagonia.

After having the note translated bu his wife, Heiss learned the letter had traveled more than 20 miles from Nogales, Sonora, in Mexico. He also learned the girl’s name was at the bottom of the letter, Dayami.

He was then determined to try and find this little girl in order to make her Christmas wishes come true before the holiday arrived. By doing so, Heiss posted to Facebook, asking a Sonoran radio station to share it with hopes of eventually finding the little girl and her family.

Facebook did its magic and someone who knew the family tagged the girl’s mother on the post and Heiss and his wife started getting to work.

The couple made a trip to the store — purchasing all the gifts on the Dayami’s list. They also purchased stuff for her 4-year-old sister, Ximena. They then took the gifts and delivered them to Mexico, according to The Washington Post.

The two families were then able to come together at the local radio station which made it all happen XENY. Dayami’s parents told Heiss and his wife that their daughter had sent Christmas lists in a balloon every year, but this was the first time anyone had fulfilled her wishes.

Heiss and his wife told Dayami and her sister that finding the balloon was a “miracle.”

“We lost our son nine years ago,” Heiss said, according to Insider. “So we don’t have grandchildren in our future and so really getting to share Christmas with kids was something that’s been missing in our lives.”
