31 year-old-woman dies in rollover crash in Alamosa

A woman died in a single-vehicle rollover crash early Saturday morning on Highway 368.

Cayce Hogue, 31, was traveling westbound in a 2011 green Jeep Wrangler when the vehicle started to rotate in a counter-clockwise direction.

The Jeep ended up going off the road, striking a fence and rolling 2 3/4 times where it came to a rest on the driver’s side.

Hogue was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected during the crash. She was pronounced dead on the scene.

Derrick Heersink, 29, of La Jara was riding along in the passenger side of the vehicle during the rollover crash. He was wearing a seatbelt and sustained serious injuries. He was transported to the San Luis Regional Medical Center in Alamosa.

The Colorado State Patrol reports that alcohol and speed are suspected factors in the crash. The crash remains under investigation at this time.
