Survey finds some people believe Santa Claus should be rebranded gender neutral or female

A new survey suggests some believe the holly jolly, white-bearded gentleman commonly known as Santa Claus, should be gender neutral.

GraphicSprings, a logo creation company, got the input of 400 people from the United States and the United Kingdom about ways to modernize Saint Nicholas.

The company then took those responses to survey 4,000 people on how they see Santa in 2018. Nearly 19 percent of those respondents said Santa’s gender should not be identified as either male or female — with 10 percent of those people thinking St. Nick fill the role of a woman.

On the opposing side, several respondents were in favor of keeping Santa Claus the way he is. Some of the other changes the survey looked at were whether or not Santa should drink beer, look younger, have tattoos, go on a diet, get a new hairstyle, or shave his beard.

More than 73 percent of people did not think those changes should happen. Another thing the group took a look at: whether or not Santa should change his normal means of transportation (his sleigh) to a more modern form. Among the choice was a flying car, using Amazon Prime, or riding a hoverboard.

More than 50 percent of surveyors did not think his classic sleigh should change.
