CSPD identifies pedestrian killed near Circle and Uintah

Colorado Springs police identified the pedestrian who was killed by a passing vehicle when he tried to cross the street Thursday night.

The crash happened shortly before 8 p.m. near N. Circle Drive and E. Uintah Street.

Police say Dennis D. Eastom, 61, was trying to cross Circle when he was hit by a vehicle going south. Eastom was near the marked crosswalk but didn’t have the right of way.

CSPD says one vehicle was able to avoid hitting Eastom, but the second one hit him. The driver wasn’t injured and isn’t expected to be charged.

Eastom’s death is the 48th traffic-related fatality in the city this year.
