Citizen’s tip leads to arrest in illegal marijuana grow in Southeast Pueblo County

A citizen’s tip led to an arrest of an illegal marijuana grow in Southeast Pueblo County Tuesday.

Regino Navarro, 43, with ties to Cuba was arrested after deputies seized nearly 50 marijuana plants from his residence at the 2800 block of Lime Road. Under Colorado state law, you are only allowed to grow up to 12 marijuana plants per household.

When deputies arrived at Navarro’s home, he willingly admitted to having too many marijuana plants. He let deputies inside to investigate where they determined he had too many plants and narcotics detectives sought out a search warrant.

In total 49 plants were seized, making it an estimated street value of $147,000 worth of marijuana. The Pueblo Regional Building Department condemned the home because of unsafe electrical work that was done in order to grow weed.

Navarro was arrested for cultivation of marijuana or more plants and booked into the Pueblo County Jail.
