The Colorado State Patrol is investigating a two-vehicle crash on Highway 85 near milepost 134.5. It happened around 1:20 p.m. on December 9th, 2018.

Amanda Sandoval, of Fountain, was driving southbound on Highway 85 as Kayla Meadows, of Indiana, was going northbound in the right lane.

Sandoval was passing another car and lost control of her vehicle, veering into the northbound lanes. The passenger side of the car collided with the front left side of Meadow’s vehicle causing Sandoval’s car to roll over.

Sandoval was not restrained and died at the scene from injuries sustained in the crash. Meadows, who was also not restrained, was transported to Memorial Hospital with serious injuries. An unrestrained adult passenger in Meadow’s car also sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger’s name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Alcohol consumption and speeding are being considered a factor in this crash, however, the crash remains under investigation.
