Marty’s Saturday Morning Forecast – Windy – 12/1/18

Today: There may be some low cloud cover over the northern slopes of the Palmer Divide this morning, otherwise expect a mostly sunny sky today. The air will remain cool and the wind will be noticeable today as it blows from the northwest at 10 to 25 mph with occasional gusts to 35 mph expected along the I-25 corridor. Wind gusts could exceed 40 mph occasionally over the far eastern plains and possibly over and near the Sangre De Cristo and Wet mountains. We expect high temperatures to reach the 30s and 40s around the Pikes Peak Region, mainly 40s near the southern mountains with 40s and 50s along the Arkansas River.

Tonight: Many areas will remain mostly clear tonight, but it is possible that some low clouds and/or fog could develop along and north of the Palmer Divide. We expect the wind to decrease tonight but some areas mainly east of I-25 will remain breezy. Expect low temperatures to fall into the teens for the mountains and 20s for the plains.

Extended: Clouds will increase on Sunday with areas of snow possibly developing late in the day. The wind won’t be as strong on Sunday, but the air will remain chilly with high temperatures in the 30s to near 40 for the plains, only 20s for the mountains. Areas of light snow are possible Sunday night mainly over and near the mountains. A few inches of snow could accumulate over and near the Wet and Sangre De Cristo mountains but it appears as though accumulations of snow will remain light through Monday morning for most areas with maybe an inch possible in spots. Scattered snow showers and/or flurries may persist Monday afternoon over and near the mountains but accumulating snow seems unlikely. The rest of the week looks dry and cool with high temperatures in the 30s and 40s for most areas. We expect to see the sun quite a bit Tuesday and Wednesday, but Thursday and Friday might be a bit cloudy with a few flakes at times over and near the mountains. The ski resorts may have spotty snow showers on occasion, but once the early week system clears the area it looks as though the ski resorts will miss out on significant snowfall until possibly late Thursday into Friday.
