Semi-trailer fire in Colorado Springs being investigated as arson

An off-duty Colorado Springs police officer found a semi-trailer on fire near Cascade Avenue and Colorado Avenue early Sunday morning.

As he got closer to the fire, the officer spotted a man leaving the scene.

The Colorado Springs Fire Department put the fire out.

A CSFD Fire Inspector said the fire was possibly started as a warming fire and has opened an arson investigation.

Police say an adjacent building was not harmed.

CSPD officers are still searching for the man seen leaving the scene.
