Teen charged with murder for shooting at Runyon Lake in Pueblo

Pueblo police have arrested a 17-year-old for the fatal shooting of another 17-year-old last month at Runyon Lake.

The shooting happened around 9:30 p.m. on Oct. 25. Police say Elijah Naranjo was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound and died from his injuries.

Police say that a teenager was taken into custody just a few hours later and questioned following the shooting. According to a news release, police knew that day that the teenager had fatally shot Naranjo, but he wasn’t charged with second-degree murder until Thursday, when he appeared in court.

We still don’t know what led to the shooting or how the victim and suspect knew each other when the shooting happened.

The suspect hasn’t been identified, and it still hasn’t been determined if he’s going to be tried as an adult.
