Horse found shivering with ‘defeat in her eyes’ after escaping Camp Fire in California

A Facebook post is going viral for touching the hearts of animal lovers everywhere after a horse in Paradise, California, was found in the backyard swimming pool after escaping the major wildfire happening in the northern part of the state.

Jeff Hill said he came across the horse in his neighborhood, when he stumbled upon the female horse, shivering inside the pool and appearing to have been defeated.

Hill believes the horse may have jumped in the pool to escape the flames going on around her.

They were eventually able to pull the horse from the pool and get her to safety.

“She got out, shook off, loved on us for a few minutes as a thank you and walked off assuring us that she was ok,” wrote Hill.

Hill said he eventually called for help and waited until resources could bring the horse away from the fire zone.

Several evacuees forced to evacuate in different parts of California were not able to grab their pets on the way out of their homes. Search and rescue teams have already rescued hundreds of animals from the flames and say they will continue searching for any missing animals.
