Colorado gubernatorial candidates still campaigning with less than 24 hours until polls close

Polls close in less than 24 hours, and both of Colorado’s gubernatorial candidates are still on the campaign trail.

Democratic candidate Jared Polis was in Lakewood Monday to encourage people to turn in their ballots.

“If I have the opportunity, I’m ready to roll up my sleeves and get to work,” Polis said.

Republican candidate Walker Stapleton in Colorado Springs Monday, getting out the vote, hoping more ballots turn in his favor.

While at the KRDO studios Monday, Stapleton, said he’s optimistic on his chances to win the governor’s seat.

“I think they’re good, I think they’re good,” Stapleton said. “I’m a hopeful guy.

As for what each candidate had to say in their final message to voters:

“All of Colorado’s children’s future is at stake as well, and I want them to know that I’m doing this for the right reasons, and I believe I can work and have worked as treasurer of Colorado and can work as governor in a bi-partisan way to make their lives better and make sure government is kept of their backs when it needs to be as well,” Stapleton said.

“We have an opportunity in Colorado to elect somebody who’s created hundreds of jobs, I have, who’s met payroll, who started a non-profit to empower veterans and military spouses to start their own companies, somebody who’s willing to roll up their sleeves, cut red tape and make government more efficient , improve our schools, and to finally do something about the roads and our commutes to do something about our quality of life,” Polis said.
