Georgia sheriff’s office places ‘No Trick-Or-Treat’ signs in yards of registered sex offenders
The Sheriff’s Office of Butts County, Georgia wants to ensure all children are safe this Halloween by placing signs in the yards of the community’s registered sex offenders to let people know where they live.
The Sheriff’s Office posted a picture of the ‘No Trick-or-Treat’ yard signs to their official Facebook page last Saturday.
Sheriff Gary Long with the department says, “Georgia law forbids registered sex offenders from participating in Halloween, to include decorations on their property.” He continued, “Make sure to avoid houses which are marked with the attached posted signs in front of their residents.”
The signs read, “Warning! No Trick-or-Treat at this address!! A community safety message from Butts County Sheriff Gary Long.”
Long says the signs are all in an attempt to keep children in the community safe in order to have an enjoyable Halloween.
Butts County is located about 45 miles southeast of Atlanta.
