Cascade man arrested for pointing gun at construction crew

A man in Cascade is facing a felony charge after threatening a road construction crew with a gun and then firing it nearby several times this past weekend.

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office says construction crews were working near the 4200 block of Outpost Road (MAP) when Edward Otis, Jr. confronted them.

Otis was holding a chrome-colored rifle that the sheriff’s office said was “assault style.” He then pointed the rifle at the crew and threatened to shoot before firing three rounds into the ground. Otis then fired several more shots on his property, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies searched Otis’ residence and found the gun locked inside a safe. Otis was booked into the criminal justice center on charges of felony menacing, prohibited use of a weapon, and reckless endangerment.

Nobody was reported injured.
