Sen. Cory Gardner touts bipartisanship during Springs visit

Senator Cory Gardner was in Colorado Springs Wednesday morning and spoke about hot-button issues that have been in recent headlines.

One issue Gardner weighed in on was his vote to confirm Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court after a contentious hearing on allegations of sexual assault.

“When you have a situation of allegations where two people are telling what they believe to be 100 percent certain, we have to look for evidence and in this case, there was no corroborating evidence,” Gardner said.

Partisanship was magnified during Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearings, separating many in Congress and across the United States. But Gardner maintains that bipartisanship is the best way to progress in Colorado.

“Over the past couple of weeks, we have passed a massive bipartisan opiate package. We’ve also passed legislation to re-authorize the FAA and we’ve passed legislation to really promote our military,” Gardner said.

Gardner said he’ll continue his effort on bipartisanship in the Senate by drafting bills that help people regardless of what side of the aisle they’re on.
