Authorities in Michigan rescue 123 missing kids in one day
A one-day initiative in Michigan aimed at bringing missing children home helped rescue 123 missing kids in one day.
The U.S. Marshals Service, Michigan State Police and Wayne County officers conducted a missing juvenile sweep on Sept. 26 throughout Wayne County.
Missing child cases were investigated prior to the operation. Participating officers were given the case files and began investigating their whereabouts by visiting last known addresses, friend’s homes and schools.
According to the U.S. Marshal Service, out of 301 files of missing children, 123 were identified and recovered safely during the operation. The children were physically located and interviewed. After the interviewing process, officers identified three possible sex trafficking cases.
This was the first operation of its kind conducted in Wayne County.
