Weather Alert Continues 10-8-18

TONIGHT: A round of showers will push north out of New Mexico into the Eastern Plains overnight. Rain will be ongoing and spreading north by early tomorrow. Some rain may change to snow across the Eastern Mountains and foothill when cold air arrives. There shouldn’t be big impacts on roads due to snow but some areas could pick up a coating on grassy and cold surfaces. Also, some slick spots may be possible in Teller and El Paso counties where we deal with patchy freezing fog. A Freeze Warning is in effect for El Paso County and the San Luis Valley until tomorrow morning. Lows drop to the upper 20s and low 30s.

TOMORROW: A band of scattered showers will continue pushing north through the morning hours. Some of this rain could change to snow as it meets the colder air. Most areas will not have impacts but grassy surfaces could pick up a light coating. Another round of rain and snow showers could come through later in the day. Highs will still be chilly, in the 30s and 40s. Areas of fog and low clouds will linger through parts of the day once again.

EXTENDED: A gradual warming trend will take place into the end of the week. A few additional showers could arrive by Wednesday into Thursday but most of the time will be dry with some low cloud cover. Another strong system arrives for the weekend bringing much colder air for the second half of the weekend with some rain and snow.
