Colorado Springs police look for slashing suspect, don’t believe attack was random

Colorado Springs police are looking for the person who attacked a woman at Memorial Park Tuesday night, but no longer believe this was a random attack.

Lieutenant Howard Black with the Colorado Springs Police Department said, “in this particular incident, it appears as though there is a relationship between the victim and potential suspect.”

Officers say the woman walked into Memorial Hospital around 7 p.m. with cuts to her neck and arm. She says someone at the park slashed her.

George Rodriguez who walks his dog in the park every day said he wasn’t surprised. “I’m not surprised to hear about anything anymore. There’s just so many crazy people out there, it just happens,” Rodriguez says.

A family member who saw the attack was able to took the victim to the hospital, where she was treated and released.

Police have not released any suspect information. The investigation is ongoing.
