1 police officer dead in South Carolina, multiple injured; suspect in custody

At least one South Carolina officer is dead, and multiple injured after a shooting in a Florence neighborhood.

According to WPDE, the Florence County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the one city officer has died. Two others were described as “touch and go,” and the suspect is in custody at a nearby hospital.

Five police officers in South Carolina were shot Wednesday in a Florence subdivision.

According to WPDE, three of those injured are Florence County deputies and two are Florence city officers. Information on their condition are still unknown at this time.

We’re told the suspect has been taken into custody after a shootout with the officers. Authorities are asking people to stay away from the area at this time.
