Snow possible for some by Monday

Are you ready for our weather pattern to change? Into Sunday and Monday, a storm system will be digging into the Great Basin. As this storm system tracks to the east on Monday, a cold front will swing into southern Colorado. Not only will this drop temperatures, it could spark some rain and snow along the Palmer Divide.

In this attached video, you can view SkyCast – one of our computer models. You’ll note that on Sunday, rain and snow will be primarily confined to the high country. There, heavy snow is possible with winter driving conditions. Monday is when parts of the Pikes Peak region could see a few snowflakes. What about snow totals area-to-area?

The San Juan mountains will be winners in terms of snow. There, the high country could accumulate 10-15 plus inches Sunday into Monday! The Sangres could see a few inches, and the central mountains could stack up 4-8 inches of snow. Meanwhile, Monument could see a little slush with Woodland Park getting perhaps a trace. Pikes Peak could accumulate 1-3 inches. Keep in mind: it’s likely this accumulation forecast will change in the days to come.

Again, take these projections with a huge grain of salt. There’s uncertainty regarding what to expect. Our StormTracker 13 rarely publicly releases potential snow totals this far in advance due to the likelihood for the projections to change drastically day-to-day. However, because this upcoming system could be the first to bring some wet snowflakes to parts of the Pikes Peak region this season, we deemed it helpful to alert you, our beloved viewers, to the possibility for a little rain/snow mix for the Palmer Divide and Teller County. We’ll keep you ahead of the storms!
