The Denver Zoo has reopened after announcing an immediate closure around 4 p.m. Tuesday due to a precautionary security threat.

The zoo posted to their Facebook that the closure was for the “safety of our guests, staff, and animals.” They continued saying they are taking the necessary steps to ensure the necessary precautions are taken in order to fix the threat.

The zoo posted to their page a few hours later saying, the reason for the closing was because they received a call just after 3 p.m. saying they “received a call from an unidentified individual threatening to fly an airplane into Denver Zoo.”

The news came just a few hours after the zoo said it will temporarily relocating two of its polar bears.
