Man reaches out to Colorado Springs bank teller after he believes daughter is kidnapped

A man handed a note to a bank teller while making a transaction Monday. The note told the woman to call the police because his daughter had been kidnapped.

The man signaled to the teller that he was on the phone with the kidnappers. When officers arrived the customer did not disconnect the call and an investigation began.

It was determined the father was being scammed, his daughter was safe at her residence studying for a college exam. The father had already made multiple non-refundable transactions via Western Union to an address in Mexico City.

Police are warning the public to be wary of such communications and phone calls via any source, there is a good chance it is a scam.
