Montrose deputies discover reported foot-long alligator was, in fact, just a salamander

The Montrose County Sheriff’s Office responded to an unusual call this week. After getting a report of a possible alligator spotting, deputies discovered it was just a salamander.

According to a Facebook post made Friday, the caller reported a foot-long alligator was on someone’s porch. They captioned the post, “Thanks to Sgt. Cox for the photos and Deputy Lovato for the amphibian handling skills.”

They also said, they never really know what to expect while on the job.
