This year’s flu might be a doozy

The Center for Disease Control has strongly recommended that everyone should be vaccinated for this flu season, which is expected to be severe.

More than 700,000 people were hospitalized nationwide with the flu over the past season, which ended in early 2018. Doctors are now saying that limiting the likelihood of coming down with the flu has everything to do with how many people get vaccinated.

When a person receives a flu vaccine, it causes the body to create antibodies. This process takes approximately two weeks after vaccination. These antibodies provide protection against infection from this year’s anticipated strains of the flu virus. This is why people need to get a flu shot annually – the vaccination is based on the strains that research indicates will be most common for that year.
