Motorcyclist killed in crash in Colorado Springs

A motorcyclist is dead following an overnight crash in Colorado Springs.

Officers responded to that crash just before 10:30 Monday night, south of the intersection of N. Academy Blvd. and Palmer Park Blvd. Witnesses told police a dark-colored Ford Explorer was driving on the wrong side of the road when it struck the motorcycle. The motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet and was declared dead at the scene.

The driver of the Explorer fled from the scene but was arrested a short time later. Kevin Esteban, 25, is now accused of vehicular homicide and driving under the influence of alcohol.

Colorado Springs Police are still searching for the driver of a light-colored, full-sized SUV. If anyone can identify the vehicle or its driver, they are asked to contact Colorado Springs Police at 444-7000, or the Pikes Peak Area Crimestoppers at 634-7867.
