Air Force Academy cadets honor 9/11 victims in wreath ceremony

The U.S. Air Force Academy cadets are commemorating September 11th even though many are too young to remember the tragic events that took place.

September 11, 2001 was a somber day, but 17-years later the feelings haven’t changed as it continues to be a day filled with heavy hearts.

The youngest cadets were just toddlers when the attacks took place.

“I personally don’t have any memory of September 11th,” said Cadet 1st Class Elizabeth Read.

“On September 11th I was about 4 years old,” said Cadet 1st Class Colin Zavislak.

And while they share the bond of not remembering, they say the aftermath of what happened is still engraved in their minds.

“What I do remember is my country in constant war,” said Cadet 4th Class Max Da Lilla.

It’s even acted as an inspiration to train and serve.

“I had a personal belief that it was part of my responsibility to make sure some thing like that never happens again,” he added.

As the ceremony goes on, they remember the thousands of people whose lives were taken.
