17th Anniversary: Where were you on 9/11?

Tuesday marks the 17th anniversary of 9/11, and while we’ll see commemorations across the country, Monday we took to the streets to find out what people remember about one of the most devastating days in U.S. history.

It was 6:46 AM in Colorado when a high-jacked American Airlines flight crashed into the North tower of the World Trade Center. Most people in Colorado were just starting their day.

“We were just getting breakfast when it happened,” said Charles Burns.

“I was at home with my kids and we were all getting ready to go school or go to work,” said Zabalvetia.

Seventeen minutes later, at 7:03, a second airplane hit the South tower. People learned more about it on the news or by listening to the radio.

“We got home and it’s on the news everywhere,” said Anthony Cavallo.

No matter where they were, they still remember exactly how they felt.

“I sat there all day on the couch watching. It was heartbreaking, very heartbreaking. I was crying on the couch,” said Michelle Anderson.

As the years have gone by, we try to live as normal as we can. But it’s a day that many hope will never be forgotten.
