Hot and sunny ahead – 09/09/18

Tonight: We’re tracking a warm afternoon with isolated storms. These spotty storms aren’t expected to amount to much, but there could be one or two strong storms (marginally severe) along the Raton Mesa and far southeastern plains. Beyond that, storms will be primarily capable of producing gusts to 50 mph, lightning and localized bursts of heavy rain. Storms will be losing steam and winding down by or shortly after 9 p.m. Partly cloudy to mainly clear skies are on tap for southern Colorado overnight. Lows drop to the 50s.

Tomorrow: Another day of warm temperatures are expected Monday! Lots of sunshine will make temperatures feel even warmer. Highs will be above-average; in fact, temperatures stay above-the-norm throughout the remainder of your seven day forecast! For tomorrow, we also have a small chance for sparse storms; however, these should be relatively weak.

Extended: Hot temperatures will prevail across the area into next weekend! Temperatures will run roughly ten degrees above-average. Abundant sunshine is anticipated as well. The area will be very dry. Instead of tracking storms, there could be times of fire danger. Winds aren’t expected to be incredibly powerful, but any gusts that exist will be elevating the fire risks. Use caution and avoid outdoor burning!
