Marty’s Saturday Morning Forecast – Morning Clouds – 9/8/18

Today: Areas of low cloud cover over parts of eastern Colorado will give way to a partly cloudy sky this afternoon. Expect a modest breeze this afternoon with temperatures warming into the 70s and 80s over the plains, 60s and 70s for the mountains. Thunderstorms don’t appear very likely today, but an isolated shower or a rumble of thunder is at least possible over the mountains this afternoon. If any thunderstorms develop they’ll remain fairly weak with brief downpours, gusty wind and frequent lightning possible.

Tonight: If there are any showers and thunderstorms in the area this evening they will end quickly as the sun sets, then mostly clear for awhile before pockets of low cloud cover develop again over the plains late. Low clouds shouldn’t be quite as widespread tonight, but even along the I-25 corridor some patchy low clouds may develop by morning. We expect low temperatures in the 50s to near 60 for the plains, 40s to near 50 over the mountains.

Extended: We expect a gradual warming trend over the next several days. While very spotty, generally weak thunderstorms are possible at times over and near the mountains through Monday; most areas should not expect to receive very much rain. The latter half of the work week looks very warm and dry. The next cold front looks to arrive late Friday into Saturday which will bring us our next chance for some showers and thunderstorms.
