Vehicle fire causes significant backup on I-25 near Pueblo

Traffic on northbound Interstate 25 was brought to a halt Friday afternoon due to a vehicle that caught fire on the shoulder of the road.

The Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office says the fire was near Mile Marker 114, which is about 10 miles north of Pueblo. It’s not yet clear what caused the fire.

According to witnesses, traffic in the northbound lanes was backed up for more than a mile.

The fire was extinguished by about 2:10 p.m. The northbound lanes were reopened by 3 p.m.

No injuries were reported.
