Man arrested for robbery spree in Colorado Springs

A 41-year-old man was arrested by Colorado Springs police after he allegedly stole money and narcotics from nine businesses this year.

Joshua Lee Youngblood was under investigation by the Colorado Springs Police Department’s Robbery Unit and was taken into custody Saturday after he crashed his motorcycle in Teller County. That’s when deputies discovered he had active warrants from Colorado Springs and Kiowa County.

CSPD said the robberies took place from January to June. A police report says Youngblood stole cash at gunpoint from five of the businesses; the other four businesses were pharmacies, and Youngblood is accused of presenting a robbery note demanding prescription narcotics.

Police say Youngblood robbed the following businesses:

Jan. 9 – Staybridge Inn & Suites, 7130 Commerce Center Drive Apr. 11 – Walgreens (pharmacy), 5713 Flintridge Drive May 28 – Subway, 4435 Centennial Boulevard May 28 – Carl’s Jr., 13315 Voyager Parkway June 7 – Walgreens (pharmacy), 7390 Rangewood Drive June 8 – Dominos, 7055 Lexington Drive June 9 – Starbucks, 3104 West Colorado Avenue June 13 – Safeway (pharmacy), 840 Village Center Drive June 27 – Safeway (pharmacy), 6520 South Academy Boulevard

According to a police report, officers also searched two properties — one on N. Weber Street in Colorado Springs and the other on 15th Street in Penrose — and recovered handguns and narcotics. The report didn’t specify how the homes were connected to Youngblood.
