Man dies after getting struck by car while crossing the street in Fountain

A man was struck by a car and died while crossing the road at the intersection of Fountain Mesa Road and Mesa Ridge Parkway Monday night.

The Fountain Police Department, the City of Fountain Fire Department and the police department’s Accident Reconstruction Team responded to the deadly crash. Authorities identified 48-year-old Marc Abeyta as the man who died on the scene.

After further investigation, it appears Abeyta was crossing against the crosswalk light into traffic when he was struck.

The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene. Speed and alcohol are not considered a factor with the driver in the vehicle.
