1 child killed in crash on Colorado interstate

A child died after a two-car crash Friday afternoon on Interstate 70 west of Denver.

The Colorado State Patrol said a silver Pontiac crossed from the eastbound lanes into westbound traffic at mile marker 256 (MAP). That’s when the car was struck by a pickup truck. It’s not clear what led to the crossover.

CSP confirmed the child died in the crash but didn’t release an age or identity. Two other injuries were reported, but we don’t know those victims’ conditions at this time.

CSP is investigating the accident. Westbound I-70 was closed and traffic was routed to Highway 40.
