Colorado Springs police investigating death after fire

A man is dead after a structure caught fire south of the Satellite Hotel on Lakewood Circle in east Colorado Springs Wednesday night.

That’s near Airport and S. Academy Blvd. Police haven’t identified the victim but said a criminal investigation is underway until it can be determined otherwise.

When officers arrived at the scene the home was fully engulfed in flames and the man was dead.

The Colorado Springs Police Department and the Colorado Springs Fire Department are joining together in the investigation.

A firefighter on the scene obtained a very minor injury while responding to the fire.

Police are asking the public to avoid the area.
