Hot and sunny – 07/19/18

Today: Buckle up for another toasty day across southern Colorado! Highs will reach the 90s and low 100s. We’ll be nearing records for temperatures, but I think we’ll fall just shy of those numbers. Tons of sunshine will make temperatures feel even hotter! Check on your neighbors, find some shady spots and stay hydrated! We only have a small chance for spotty storms over the mountains and the Raton Mesa; however, we’re not expecting storms to become severe.

Tonight: Overnight lows drop to the 50s and 60s under partly cloudy skies. Storms wind down.

Extended: Storm chances increase starting Friday. Our weather pattern will shift this upcoming weekend, allowing for monsoonal moisture to funnel in across the state. This will fuel our storms; some of our storms this weekend (and into next week) will be capable of producing heavy rain and downpours. Flash flooding could become a concern over local burn scars. Right now, we’re not forecasting large hail or damaging gusts this weekend, but that could change. Stick with us!
