Scattered Storms Today 7-17-18

TODAY: We’re continuing to track developing storms over the mountains which will work their way eastward later this afternoon. Most storms will bring the potential for heavy downpours, frequent lightning and gusty winds and small hail. Or of two of these storms today may become severe for wind and hail. Temperatures are in the 70s and 80s. A few locations will still climb into the 90s by mid afternoon.

TONIGHT: A few thunderstorms are expected to be ongoing over the Eastern Plains late this evening. Most rain and thunder will clear out of here shortly after midnight leaving most places quiet overnight with scattered clouds. Low temps cool to the 50s and 60s.

TOMORROW: Quieter and warmer conditions are expected tomorrow. Most places stay dry while a few thunderstorms will be possible, mainly over the higher terrain. High temperatures warm to the 80s and 90s during the afternoon. Some locations out east will hit the triple digits.

EXTENDED: Thursday looks dry and mostly sunny with temperatures becoming even hotter. Highs will be a few degrees warmer with 80s, 90s and triple digits expected in our normal hot areas. Thunderstorm activity increases again by Friday as monsoon moisture returns. Chances for rain will continue through the weekend into early next week bringing those temperatures back down again.
