Man arrested after shooting near south Colorado Springs apartment

Colorado Springs police say officers arrested a man who was attempting to shoot another person Thursday night and ended up firing multiple rounds into a nearby apartment.

CSPD said the call came in around 10:30 p.m. saying shots were fired near 700 Johanne Place ( MAP ), and officers found one of the apartments had been hit by several bullets. No one inside the apartment was injured.

Police investigated and found that the suspect — identified as Ian Carlos Fuentes Rodriguez — was originally targeting a person in the area with a rifle. Rodriguez fled the scene but was later found at a house on S. Chelton Road.

Rodriguez has been charged with attempted first-degree murder, felony menacing, and illegal discharge of a firearm.
