Mostly sunny with isolated storms – 05/16/18
Today: It will be a relatively quiet weather day across southern Colorado after an active afternoon of storms Tuesday. Highs will be warmer compared to what we saw yesterday; temperatures will reach the 70s and 80s. Mostly sunny skies are on tap for the area. Later this afternoon and evening, we have a slight chance for a few storms. We don’t the same risk for severe storms like what we saw yesterday, but we can’t rule out a few strong storms – especially in the eastern plains.
Tonight: Mainly clear skies are expected. Overnight lows tumble to the 40s and 50s. A few storms in the eastern plains could continue into early Thursday morning.
Extended: Temperatures warm up further on Thursday. Highs will soar to the 80s and 90s in the lower elevations! Tomorrow, we also have a marginal risk for severe storms in the eastern plains. Unfortunately on Thursday, the Raton Mesa will be battling elevated fire danger. Avoid outdoor burning in this area! Friday, we have a better chance of seeing strong-to-severe storms developing in northern Colorado Springs as well as some of the eastern plains. That’s where we could see large hail and gusty winds. This upcoming weekend appears to be cooler, wetter and stormier.
