A few thunderstorms possible today – 04/23/18

Today: Partly cloudy skies are expected across southern Colorado. We’ll be dealing with chances for some isolated rain showers and thunderstorms this afternoon; however, storms aren’t looking to be strong or severe. Temperatures will reach the 60s and 70s with a slight breeze.

Tonight: A cold front moves through the area early tomorrow morning. This will kick up the winds with gusts into the 20s and 30s. Don’t be surprised by some winds gusting in the night! We’ll have mostly cloudy skies overnight. Lows drop to the 30s and 40s. Some isolated rain and snow showers are possible with little to no accumulations.

Extended: More rain/snow showers are expected on-and-off throughout the day Tuesday with only minor accumulations possible for a few areas (Teller County, the Raton Mesa and possibly the Palmer Divide). Elsewhere, while there could be a few slick spots, we’re not expecting much in the way of impacts due to our showers tomorrow. It will be gusty tomorrow and cooler. Wednesday looks to be quiet and nice with temperatures rebounding to the 50s and 60s. Thursday could be gusty. A few isolated showers are in the forecast Thursday and Saturday, but beyond that — we stay dry and a bit breezy. Generally, fire danger looks lower this week compared to last week.
