Air Force Academy closed south gate due briefly to security incident

UPDATE: Air Force Academy Officials confirmed that as of 11:35 AM, the South Gate has been reopened for both inbound and outbound traffic.

A tweet from the United States Air Force Academy states, Academy S. Gate is closed due to a security incident.

Security Forces detected a vehicle that may contain hazardous or dangerous material. Peterson Air Force Base’s Explosive Ordinance Disposal is on the scene assessing the situation.

Passenger vehicles should use the north gate for entry and exit. Oversized vehicles should still proceed to the S. Gate as normal, but expect delays.
